Good evening everyone
After a fruitful first conference day, I hope everyone is more relaxed now !
First of all, we would like to thank you for participating at ISVLSI this year and visiting Kefalonia and Lixouri !
In Greek literature, it is mentioned that it is the journey that counts and not the destination of your trip ! Allow me to paraphrase it by saying that both the journey and the three days of the conference (given the high quality of conference participants) are equally important and we are honored to have you in ISVLSI 2010.
Before proceeding, I would like to express my gratitude to the people that have joined us in this wonderful trip, started a year ago and ending on Wednesday !
First of all, I would like to thank
- Prof. Amar Mukherjee and the conference steering committee for trusting and supporting us during this year !
- The local authorities, and especially Mr Dionysios Georgatos – the Prefect of Kefalonia – and Mrs Nopi Alexandropoulou Charitatou – the Mayor of Lixouri – for fully supporting every organization aspect of the conference and sponsoring ISVLSI 2010.
- All the program committee members for the their excellent contribution, especially during the review process which was a difficult and demanding task.
- Our sponsors and especially Technological Educational Institute of Mesolonghi and Department of Telecommmunication System and Networks for taking over all the organizational details of the conference and providing full support to our efforts.
Visiting a new place is by itself a wonderful experience. But only if we become acquainted with the people and their culture can we get the true feeling of a place. For this reason, the local choir is here with us today to sing traditional Kefalonian songs. We hope you’ll enjoy them!
Culture can also be seen in dances. The group of dancers you will see now will dance for you wearing traditional local costumes.
